This site does not top up Hong Kong numbers for you. This guide shows how to top up directly with the carrier.
Quick answer: To top up a China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) prepaid SIM yourself, use CMHK’s online refill page or the MyLink app (fixed amounts from HK$50 to HK$1,000), buy a refill voucher, or refill in a CMHK shop with an Octopus machine or staff help. Rekanan and My Friend SIMs use their own vouchers. SmarTone, csl and 3HK each have their own top-up routes, listed below.
“Top up”, “refill” and “recharge” all mean the same thing here: adding stored value to a prepaid SIM. CMHK’s own pages say “refill”, and searchers say all three, so this page uses them interchangeably. You may also see the carrier called CMHK, China Mobile Hong Kong or 中國移動香港, and its app called MyLink.
“China Mobile top up” can mean two different things. A Hong Kong number (+852) belongs to CMHK and is topped up as described on this page. A mainland China number (+86) belongs to China Mobile in mainland China and is topped up through a different system; see the mainland China top-up guide. If you are not sure, check the country code on your SIM’s packaging.
| Your situation | Best route |
|---|---|
| In Hong Kong with a Hong Kong e-wallet or card | Online refill page or the MyLink app |
| Your overseas card is declined, or you want to pay cash | A refill voucher from a CMHK shop or authorised dealer, or a refill in a CMHK shop |
| Outside Hong Kong | A voucher redeemed with *139*[16-digit code]# (buy it before you travel) |
| Rekanan or My Friend SIM | The Rekanan/My Friend voucher: *139*[code]#, call 67001111, or MyLink |
| Less than HK$50 | A voucher or a CMHK shop, because online refill starts at HK$50 |
| You want the online bonus | Online refill on a designated card (see the list under the bonus table) |
The quickest route. Open CMHK’s online refill page or the MyLink app, enter the prepaid mobile number, choose one of the fixed amounts from HK$50 to HK$1,000, and pay. CMHK advertises up to 30% bonus on online refills for a limited time (“valid until further notice”), but only on designated cards. It says online top-ups support up to 14 commonly used Hong Kong payment methods; if your overseas card is declined, use a voucher. The page also has a Refill Voucher tab and a box for a coupon code under “Redeem Rewards”.
| Amount paid | Bonus | Validity extension |
|---|---|---|
| HK$50 to HK$99 | +10% | 180 days |
| HK$100 to HK$199 | +10% | 180 days |
| HK$200 to HK$299 | +20% | 365 days |
| HK$300 or more | +30% | 365 days |
From CMHK’s top-up page. Designated cards are the HK$48 Mobile Duck 4G Local Prepaid Card (97) and the HK$120 Mobile Duck One Card for Three Regions (98 and 109). The offer is not available on MySIM, Teman (CT20), Kids Watch Greater Bay Area 365-Day, SIMPLIFLY or the Mobile Duck Card. An additional one-time bonus may be added, and its amount varies by card; check the CMHK website or your SIM pack. Each refill extends validity from the refill date, and if your original validity is longer, that one applies. Since 14 March 2025 a prepaid card’s balance is capped at HK$5,000, and a refill is rejected if it would take you over (bonus included). Offers change, so confirm on the page before paying.
Buy a voucher at a CMHK shop or authorised dealer, then redeem it with the instructions printed on it. Face values include HK$20, HK$50 and HK$100, depending on the SIM brand. When a voucher is redeemed against a top-up, CMHK works out the validity extension from the net amount you actually paid, not the voucher’s face value. You can redeem a voucher with *139*[16-digit code]# even while roaming abroad. Use the right voucher for your SIM: a Rekanan or My Friend voucher will not work on other CMHK cards.
Staff can refill your SIM, and CMHK shops have Octopus self-service payment machines. On some cards the Flexi-Fill service lets you choose any amount from HK$10.
CMHK’s prepaid user guide, which covers CMHK prepaid numbers, gives these free balance checks: log in to the MyLink app, dial *#130#, or dial 193193. CMHK’s customer FAQ says 193193 plays your remaining balance and expiry date, and gives 197197 for Kabayan or Rekanan cards. Dial *140# (free) for service information and tariffs. You can also use the CMHK website or call the prepaid customer hotline on 12580 and choose the refill methods menu. If you refill before the SIM expires, your remaining balance carries forward; after expiry it is forfeited.
CMHK’s guide says to insert the SIM into a smartphone and turn on mobile data in Hong Kong, or dial *#130# in Hong Kong. On success, an SMS tells you the Hong Kong number, stored value and expiry date. If that doesn’t work, restart the phone and check that the mobile data APN is cmhk, with the proxy address and port left blank.
PPS is a Hong Kong bill-payment service (phone and web). CMHK lists it for some cards, with a HK$30 minimum on the HK$88 Mobile Duck plan. You need a registered PPS account.
Monthly plans are deducted from your stored value. CMHK’s terms say that if the balance is too low to renew a plan, the service stops, and you must have enough stored value and subscribe again.
| SIM or plan | Top-up | Validity added |
|---|---|---|
| HK$88 Mobile Duck Local Monthly Plan | HK$10 to HK$49 | 30 days |
| HK$88 Mobile Duck Local Monthly Plan | HK$50 to HK$199 | 180 days |
| HK$88 Mobile Duck Local Monthly Plan | HK$200 or more | 365 days |
| Rekanan / My Friend | HK$20 voucher | 30 days |
| Kabayan | HK$20 voucher | 30 days |
| Kabayan | HK$50 voucher | 180 days |
If a card already has a longer validity left, the longer period applies. Rules differ by SIM and change, so check the page for your SIM on CMHK’s site.
These are separate CMHK prepaid brands, and they are the ones people most often search for. The main difference is the refill route and whether the online bonus applies.
Mobile Duck is the name on CMHK’s own prepaid range, including the HK$48 Local Prepaid SIM and the HK$88 Local Monthly Plan. Refill online, in MyLink or in a CMHK shop. CMHK’s online-refill bonus applies only to designated Mobile Duck cards (the HK$48 4G Local Prepaid Card and the HK$120 One Card for Three Regions), so check CMHK’s list before choosing an amount.
Use the Rekanan/My Friend refill voucher. Press *139*, the 16-digit code, then #; or call 67001111 and follow the prompts; or use MyLink’s refill function. The voucher works only for Rekanan, My Friend and the IDD1523 SuperSave service. CMHK’s page says to check the product details for any Kabayan or Rekanan refill bonus; My Friend is not on its list of designated cards.
To check your balance and expiry date, log in to the MyLink app, dial *#130# (free), or dial 193193 (free), as CMHK’s prepaid user guide says for CMHK prepaid numbers. CMHK’s customer FAQ gives 197197 for Kabayan or Rekanan cards. If a code returns nothing, use the CMHK website or the prepaid hotline 12580. Refill before the expiry date, or your balance is forfeited.
Kabayan can be refilled with vouchers, at a CMHK shop (including Octopus machines and Flexi-Fill) and through PPS. CMHK lists Kabayan under “Discontinued Cards for Foreigners”, which suggests new cards are no longer sold, so confirm with CMHK before relying on one. Teman (CT20) is listed on CMHK’s page as not eligible for the online-refill bonus; this guide found no separate top-up instructions for it, so ask CMHK.
Each of these carriers has its own refill system. Balance-check codes can differ by SIM, so if a code below does not work, use the one printed on your SIM pack or the carrier’s page for your card.
| Carrier | How to top up | Check balance | Validity note |
|---|---|---|---|
| SmarTone | SmarTone Prepaid app (credit card, Octopus, WeChat Pay, Alipay HK, PayMe), vouchers from SmarTone stores and over 900 authorised resellers, PPS | *111# | A top-up of HK$50 or more resets validity to 180 days on some SIMs and 365 days on others (for example the HK$48 multi-trip and HK$98 China-HK-Macau SIMs) |
| csl (1O1O) | Voucher: press *109*[PIN]#, call 179179, or use prepaid.hkcsl.com (voucher PIN, credit card or Alipay) | *109#, *101# or ##122#, depending on the SIM | Varies by SIM and amount, from 30 to 365 days; some cards sold from 1 March 2024 have a shorter base validity |
| 3HK | e-voucher, call 1753 175, HSBC, Hang Seng or JETCO ATM bill payment, PPS, SoSIM app and Watsons or PARKnSHOP for SoSIM | ##107# (SoSIM) | SoSIM is valid 120 days after activation; recharge options differ by 3HK SIM type |
China Unicom Hong Kong and other smaller carriers are not covered here.

Open CMHK’s online refill page or the MyLink app, enter the prepaid mobile number, choose one of the fixed amounts (HK$50, 100, 200, 300, 500, 800 or 1,000), and pay. CMHK says online top-ups support up to 14 commonly used Hong Kong payment methods, so if your overseas card is declined, buy a refill voucher instead. After the refill, check your balance and validity. Refill before the SIM’s expiry date, or any remaining balance is forfeited.
No. CMHK is China Mobile’s Hong Kong subsidiary and runs its own prepaid SIMs and refill system. A Hong Kong number is topped up as described on this page. For a mainland China number, see the mainland China top-up guide.
CMHK’s online refill page offers fixed amounts per transaction: HK$50, 100, 200, 300, 500, 800 or 1,000. Since 14 March 2025 a prepaid card’s balance is capped at HK$5,000, and a refill is rejected if it would take you over the cap, bonus included. Smaller amounts need a voucher or a CMHK shop; shop refills can start from HK$10 on some cards.
Use CMHK’s online refill page or MyLink, or refill in a CMHK shop. CMHK’s online-refill bonus applies only to designated cards, including the HK$48 Mobile Duck 4G Local Prepaid Card and the HK$120 Mobile Duck One Card for Three Regions, so check the list on CMHK’s page for your SIM before choosing an amount.
My Friend and Rekanan SIMs use Rekanan/My Friend refill vouchers. Press *139*, then the 16-digit code, then #, or call 67001111 and follow the prompts, or use the refill function in MyLink. These vouchers work only for Rekanan, My Friend and the IDD1523 SuperSave service.
CMHK’s prepaid user guide, which covers CMHK prepaid numbers, lists three free checks: log in to the MyLink app, dial *#130#, or dial 193193. CMHK’s customer FAQ also gives 197197 for Kabayan or Rekanan cards. If a code returns nothing on your SIM, use MyLink, the CMHK website or the prepaid hotline 12580.
Restart the phone and check that the mobile data APN is cmhk, with the proxy address and port blank. Then check your balance and expiry date with *#130# or 193193. CMHK’s terms say monthly plans are deducted from stored value, so if the balance was too low the plan may have lapsed and you need to subscribe again.
CMHK’s online-refill bonus, advertised as up to 30% for a limited time, applies only to designated prepaid cards. CMHK’s page says it is not available on MySIM, Teman (CT20), Kids Watch Greater Bay Area 365-Day, SIMPLIFLY or the Mobile Duck Card, and for Kabayan and Rekanan it says to check the product details.
It depends on the SIM and the amount. On CMHK’s online refill page, HK$50 to HK$199 adds 180 days and HK$200 or more adds 365 days (designated cards only), counted from the refill date. On the HK$88 Mobile Duck plan, HK$10 to HK$49 gives 30 days. A HK$20 Rekanan or My Friend voucher adds 30 days. If your card already has longer validity left, the longer period applies.
Per CMHK’s FAQ, if you refill before the prepaid SIM expires, the remaining balance carries forward automatically; otherwise it is forfeited. Refill before the expiry date, and check the date with 193193 or MyLink.
Yes, with a voucher. CMHK’s FAQ says that if you hold a refill voucher you can dial *139*, the 16-digit activation code and # on the handset to recharge while roaming. 3HK says its prepaid SIMs can be recharged anywhere, locally or abroad, and csl says vouchers can be used in Hong Kong or overseas. Whether a card payment on CMHK’s online refill page works from abroad is not confirmed here, so buy a voucher before you travel.
On CMHK’s online refill page you enter the prepaid mobile number to refill, so a friend’s number can be refilled if you have the number and a payment method that works. 3HK’s SIM World app also has a “Top-up other prepaid card” option for its International Supreme Card.
No. This site no longer processes top-ups for Hong Kong or Macao numbers. Top up directly with the carrier using the routes on this page.

This guide was checked on 30 October 2026 against the carriers’ own pages: CMHK’s online refill page, prepaid user guide, customer FAQ and SIM pages, SmarTone’s and csl’s prepaid pages and 3HK’s prepaid pages. CMHK’s site blocks automated reading, so some CMHK details come from search results of those official pages and from CMHK’s prepaid user guide text supplied to me. Balance codes, bonus terms and validity change by SIM and over time, so confirm on the carrier’s page before topping up. Details I could not confirm, such as China Unicom Hong Kong, are left out rather than guessed.
