This guide covers CMHK voicemail, also written voice mail, and the call forward and call forwarding codes for China Mobile Hong Kong numbers. For a mainland China number, see the China Mobile mainland voicemail settings.

CMHK call forward codes

Dial the code on your phone and press call. The number at the end, 62386238, sends the call to CMHK voicemail. To forward to another phone, put that number in place of 62386238. You need voicemail on your plan for forwarding to voicemail to work.

To cancel every forwarding setting at once, dial ##002#. CMHK’s short-codes page lists ##21# and ##002# for cancelling. The ##61#, ##62# and ##67# codes follow the standard GSM pattern but aren’t listed on CMHK’s page, so check them on your handset. To see whether all-call forwarding is switched on, dial *#21#, another standard GSM code. CMHK’s page also shows the single-star form *21*number# for setting all-call forwarding.

How to forward calls to CMHK voicemail in three steps

1. Choose the forwarding type. Pick all calls (21), no answer (61), unreachable (62) or busy (67).
2. Dial the code. Dial ** followed by the type code, then *62386238# and press call, for example **21*62386238# to send all calls to voicemail.
3. Cancel when you don’t need it. Dial ##002# and press call to cancel all call forwarding.

You can also set forwarding online by logging in to My Space and choosing Call Forward. If you don’t have your phone or the battery is flat, call CMHK’s 24-hour Customer Care Hotline on 2945 8888 from any tone phone, follow the prompts and enter your PIN to forward your calls. CMHK’s Call Forwarding Package is HK$28 a month.

How to listen to CMHK voicemail

Dial 218 from your CMHK SIM, or 9208 9218 from any phone (+852 9208 9218 from overseas). When you’re roaming abroad, dial *115*218#. Calls forwarded to voicemail while you’re abroad are free, but listening to messages abroad incurs roaming charges, and CMHK’s older user guide advises cancelling all forwarding with ##002# before you leave Hong Kong to avoid roaming charges on forwarded calls. That conflicts with CMHK’s current voicemail page, so check your own plan.

How to check CMHK voicemail in three steps

1. Dial the voicemail number. Dial 218 from your CMHK SIM, or 9208 9218 from any phone, to reach your voicemail box.
2. Dial the roaming code abroad. When you’re roaming, dial *115*218# instead. Listening to messages abroad incurs roaming charges.
3. Or use Visual Voice Mail. On an Android phone with Basic or Premium Voice Mail, use the CMHK VVM app to listen, reply, save and delete messages.

Visual Voice Mail

CMHK Visual Voice Mail lets you listen to, reply to, save and delete messages in an app instead of the phone menu. It supports Android 4.0 or above only, and you need Basic or Premium Voice Mail. Basic Visual Voice Mail is HK$18 a month and Premium is free for Premium Voice Mail users, with mobile data charges for downloading. Subscribe through the CMHK VVM app or by calling 12580.

Changing your greeting and language

Dial 218 (or 9208 9218), then follow the menu. On Basic Voice Mail, press 2 to set your greeting, 3 then 1 for the system language and 3 then 2 for the SMS notification language. On Premium, press 3 for your greetings, 4 then 1 for the system language and 4 then 2 for the SMS notification language.

CMHK prepaid SIM: voicemail and call forwarding

Prepaid SIMs have their own rules. CMHK’s prepaid SIM how-to page has the current prepaid instructions.

• Listening: dial *115*218# to retrieve voicemail, or 218 on your CMHK SIM.
• Forwarding: CMHK’s FAQ says prepaid customers on plans such as the HK$80 4G/3G Data and Voice SIM, Super Talk, IDD Talk and Super Roaming can set up forwarding with short codes. Except for All Call Forward, the card needs enough balance to receive 6 minutes or more of incoming calls, or the command fails.
• Check your balance first: dial *#130# (free), dial 193193 (free) or use the MyLink app, so you know the card has enough balance before you set up forwarding.
• Voicemail: if you subscribe to both Call Forwarding and Voice & Fax Mailbox, all unanswered calls are diverted to voicemail automatically.
• 1-Card-2-Number prepaid SIM: calls forwarded via the Hong Kong number cost HK$0.45 a minute and via the China number HK$0.6 a minute.
• Hotline: call 12580, choose a language, press 2 and then 1 for mobile phone service, enter your prepaid number, then choose Value-added Service for Call Forward or Voice & Fax Mailbox.

CMHK voicemail and call forwarding fees

Monthly fees as listed on CMHK’s pages. Plans can include some of these, and CMHK notes exceptions such as the PEOPLES 0 plan and HK$50 plans for the Call Forwarding Package, so check your own plan.

Blocking calls on a CMHK number

CMHK sells Incoming / Outgoing Call Barring at HK$35 a month. It lets you block incoming calls or the dialing function of your handset, and you can turn it off at any time. Bar Incoming (when overseas) is also HK$35 a month and avoids unexpected calls and roaming costs while you travel. CMHK’s page doesn’t describe blocking individual numbers, so use your phone’s own block list for that. Calling Number Display and Call Waiting are HK$35 a month each.

How this page was put together: The fees, features and forwarding types come from CMHK’s own service pages, which I copied on 26 October 2026. The forward-code format and cancel codes match CMHK’s service short codes page, and the voicemail numbers and roaming code *115*218# match CMHK’s customer support FAQ. The 62386238 forwarding number comes from CMHK’s common features user guide, which is an older document. CMHK’s short-codes page still says to dial *135# for the latest list, but when I tried it, it no longer worked, so check the codes on your handset or with CMHK on 12580 if one doesn’t. The per-type cancel codes and the *#21# status check follow the standard GSM pattern and aren’t listed on CMHK’s page. CMHK can change fees without notice.
