Can China mobile phone roam in Japan ?

I recently travelled to Japan with my China mobile phone and it didn't work. I hadn't realised it wasn't set up for roaming. How can I set it up or do I have to go into a China Mobile store and get them to do it for me.

If your number belongs to China Mobile, you may call 10086 to activate China Mobile international roaming service. China mobile prepaid sim card may not be eligible for international roaming. Some of them can apply for two weeks period roaming service.

After your China mobile number has international roaming service for Japan, you need a cell phone to support WCDMA
network. Japan uses WCDMA network.
